250+ Restaurant Name Ideas for Every Type (2026)

250+ Restaurant Name Ideas for Every Type of Restaurant (2026)
Choosing a restaurant name is one of those decisions that feels small until you realize it's on your sign, your menu, your receipts, your Google listing, your social media, and every review anyone ever writes about you. Forever.
A great name does three things: it tells people what kind of food to expect, it's easy to remember and spell, and it sounds like a place they'd actually want to eat at.
A bad name does the opposite. It confuses people, it's forgettable, or worse — it sounds like somewhere they'd avoid.
This list gives you 250+ ideas organized by cuisine and restaurant type. Use them as-is, mix and match, or let them spark something completely your own.

How to Choose the Right Name
Coming up with options is the easy part. Narrowing it down is where it gets hard. Here's what to check before you commit.
Say it out loud 10 times. Does it roll off the tongue or does it trip you up? Your customers will be saying this name when they recommend you to friends. If it's hard to say, it's hard to remember.
Google it. Search the exact name you want. If another restaurant has it — especially in your area — move on. Even if they're in a different city, sharing a name makes it harder to rank in search results and creates confusion.
Check the domain. Go to a domain registrar and see if the .com is available. Even if you don't need a website right now, you will eventually. If the .com is taken, try adding your city: "theanchorsandiego.com."
Check social media handles. Search Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok for the name. Consistent branding across platforms matters more than most people think.
Check trademarks. Search the USPTO trademark database (tess2.uspto.gov) to make sure nobody has registered the name. This is especially important if you plan to expand or franchise.
Keep it short. One to three words is ideal. "The Tuscan Table" works. "Giovanni's Authentic Old-World Italian Kitchen & Pizzeria" doesn't. The shorter the name, the easier it is to fit on a sign, a menu, a business card, and a Google listing.
Make it easy to spell. If someone hears the name, can they type it into Google without guessing? Avoid unusual spellings, accents, or words most people don't know. "Éclat" looks elegant on paper but half your customers will search for "eclat" or "e-clat" or give up entirely.
Match the vibe. A BBQ joint called "Velvet Table" sends the wrong signal. A fine dining restaurant called "The Rib Joint" does too. The name should match the experience a customer will have when they walk through the door.
After the Name: Your Menu Is Next
Once you've got the name, the next step is the menu. And if you want it to look as professional as the name you just picked, you can upload your menu and see it transformed into a digital menu with photos and translations in under 3 minutes. No designer needed.
